What is Bowen

The Bowen Technique is a remedial, hands-on complimentary therapy that is applied using very gentle pressure on precise points of the body. There is no manipulation or adjustment of hard tissue and no force is used – only a gentle rolling movement.

The experience of a treatment is gentle, subtle and relaxing. It is believed that the Bowen Technique prompts the body to reset, repair and balance itself and clients report deep relaxation, almost immediate pain relief, improvement of function and recovery of energy.

It prompts the body to provide a balance between the ‘fight or flight’ system and the ‘rest and digest’ system. This might happen immediately, it might happen after two or three sessions – every body will react differently to Bowen and there are no guarantees of success.

Because of gentleness of the treatment, Bowen can be considered for clients for whom other forms of therapy might be too aggressive, forceful or invasive. The tiniest of babies through to the frailest of adults have been successfully treated with Bowen.
